Art lifts our spirits, changes our perceptions, inspires confidence and creates drama and atmosphere.
Ann Petherick opened her first gallery in York in the 1980s and currently operates from a fine Victorian house overlooking the Knavesmire. The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, the opening hours are flexible, the style is lively and exciting, and the policy is to show some of the finest work by living British artists – all original, and all at very fair prices.
The gallery has a policy of showing nationally-known artists alongside talented newcomers, providing encouragement to the latter and allowing for a broad price and style range. It attracts those with an interest in visual arts of quality, who know there are few galleries of this standard.
Almost all the artists are personally known to Ann and she regularly travels throughout Britain to source new work, enjoying her role in supporting artists to develop their careers.
The gallery also offers services such as ‘try at home’, advice on hanging and re-hanging, a leasing scheme for business premises, a wedding scheme and an art finding scheme.
Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.
